About the Event
In this workshop your child will learn a little bit about the history of zines and why people make them. Zines are great ways of capturing the coolest things you can think of and sharing them with people! Leicester Zine Library will have a family friendly selection of their catalogue available for visitors and workshop participants to read to get your creative juices flowing!
They will learn how to construct three of their very own publications using these different methods:
- A simple folding technique that produces a nifty little A7 zine.
- A method that utilises the long-arm stapler to produce larger zines with more pages.
- A simple book-binding technique using an awl and thread.
All materials are provided by us, but we encourage you to bring along your own stickers/magazines/craft paper to make your Zine extra special!
This is also a chance to gain an Arts Award Discover! Arts Award Discover is an introductory award, designed for ages 5 and above, but is open to children and young people aged 25 and under, certificated by Trinity College London, and is not a regulated qualification.
By taking part in the workshop your child will end up with some fantastic Zines that they have made, and we will also send them an Arts Award certificate in the post that will prove what a great Zine making expert they are!
These workshops are supported by an Arts Council England grant, in partnership with Leicester Libraries.
